Kevin Hershey is a writer and social worker in New York City.

His work has appeared in The New York Times, Crab Creek Review, and Open Global Rights, and is forthcoming in Orion Magazine. He has written and performed short autobiographical one-man shows as part of the New Masculinities Festival at the LGBT Center. Kevin’s New York Times “Modern Love” column “Young, Gay and Single Among the Nuns and Widows” was published in October 2022. Kevin won the 2023 Anne C. Barnhill Prize for Creative Nonfiction and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for his essay “Three Fairies.” Jean Smart is developing a limited series inspired by Kevin’s work, as seen in Deadline. Kevin is a consulting producer on the project. He has Master’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Social Work.
